A device conveying upright objects which each have a circumferential surface which is to a large extend cylindrical comprises: a feed conveyor belt, which is driven at a first speed and on which the objects are fed; a discharge conveyor belt, which is driven at a second speed and discharges the objects which have been fed by the feed conveyor belt, which second speed is higher than the first speed, and which discharge conveyor belt is narrower than the feed conveyor belt and extends next to the feed conveyor belt, in such a manner that the active parts of the feed conveyor and the discharge conveyor belt lie in the same plane; a deflection member which extends above the feed conveyor belt and pushes the objects which are fed by the feed conveyor belt sideways towards the discharge conveyor belt; and a first side guide and a second guide, which side guides extend next to and parallel to the discharge conveyor belt, which first side guide is a continuation of the deflection member, and which second side guide forms a gradual narrowing with the deflection member, which narrowing forces the objects which are conveyed by the discharge conveyor belt to move into a single row, and which second side guide, at least in the area in which the objects move onto the discharge conveyor belt, is provided with rotation means which set the objects which are pressed against the second guide at that location in rotation.
