The invention relates to a device for the non-stop operation of e.g. a delivery unit of a rotary printing machine in which sheets (6) in a flow of sheets are collated into individual stacks (10, 10') supported on a stack base (2) with a surface (2.1) interrupted by grooves (2.2) and in which auxiliary stacks (9) are borne by grid rods (12) together forming a rack (11) until their transfer to the stack base (2), said rods (12) penetrating into the grooves (2.2) during transfer. To prevent the stacks (10, 10') from being hampered by their weight, according to the invention a receiving plate (13) catching the auxiliary stack (9) from below is laid upon the grid rods (12) in their reception position.
