A garage, in particular for private cars, has an underground static stiff body (1) with a ring-shaped wall closed at the top and bottom front sides (3, 3'). Entrances and exits are arranged in the top front side (3). A horizontally back and forth movable vertical conveyor (5) is associated to the entrances and exits in the ring-shaped wall body (1). Fixed parking spaces (7) arranged above and behind each other are located on several storeys on both sides of the vertical conveyor (5). The private cars may be moved from the vertical conveyor (5) to the parking spaces (7), for parking purposes, or may be moved back from the parking spaces (7) to the vertical conveyor (5). In order to shorten check-in and check-out times at the top front side (3) of the ring-shaped wall body (1), an opening (4) which serves as a common entrance and exit is arranged at mid-length of the parking spaces (7) located behind each other. A pallet buffer storage (14) associated to the opening (4) successively brings pallets (14') to the opening or carries them away from the opening (4) and receives them. The pallets (14') located in the area of the opening (4) can be picked up by an overhead vertical conveyor (5) and brought to a parking space (7) or may be withdrawn from the parking space (7) and brought back to the opening (4) by the vertical conveyor. |
