PURPOSE: To obtain a thermoplastic synthesized resin fiber for removing effectively sweats from human body by absorbing or wicking moisture. CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic resin fiber demonstrating moisture wicking properties has a feature (a) having fiber surface limiting outer boundary and one or more internal lengthwise open channels 12, 13, 14 having at least one groove having an opening and a longest dimension, a deepest point and a mouth 16. The mouth is defined by moving a line from the deepest point along the longest dimension until the largest convex set is identified. The mouth has a width X providing the average cross-sectional area greater than or equal to (πx<2> )/8. The fiber also has a feature having a durable hydrophilic surface modification associated with the channel.
