PURPOSE:To irradiate a color heat-sensitive recording material with a predetermined amount of ultraviolet rays so as to perform optical fixing. CONSTITUTION:Ultraviolet lamps 16 and 17 are provided on the tube walls thereof with temperature sensors 22 and 23 for detecting the temperature of the tube wall, respectively, and reflecting plates 20 and 21 are disposed respectively above the ultraviolet lamps 16 and 17 with the lower sides open toward a color heat-sensitive recording material 10. When the temperatures detected by the temperature sensors 22 and 23 are higher than the reference temperature, a controller 24 actuates a reflecting plate moving device 25 to bring the reflecting plates 20 and 21 into contact with the ultraviolet lamps 16 and 17 and drive a cooling fan 18. When the detected temperatures are lower than the reference temperature, the reflecting plates 20 and 21 are moved out of contact therewith and the cooling fan 18 is stopped. The ultraviolet lamps 16 and 17 are then turned on to generate heat. |
