PURPOSE:To obtain a method for producing an optically active intermediate for producing D-biotin useful as a medicine and an additive for animals. CONSTITUTION:An esterase, derived from a mold and having the ability to more rapidly acylate either of hydroxyl groups than the other is brought into contact with a mixture of the (+)-isomer with the (-)-isomer of (3aalpha, 6aalpha)- tetrahydro-4-hydroxy-1H-thieno[3,4-d] imidazol-2 (3H)-one in the presence of an acyl group donor to produce a (+)- or (-)-(3aalpha,6aalpha)-tetrahydro-4-acyloxy-1H- thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-2(3H)-one. Thereby, the optically active intermediate for the D-biotin is obtained in high yield and purity. |
