METHOD FOR PRINTING IMAGE IN SPECIFIC POSITIONAL RELATION TO PREPRINTED REGISTER MARK

PURPOSE: To provide a method for detecting the position of the two-dimensional matching mark preliminarily printed on a printing medium to print a new image in the predetermined positional relation with the mark. CONSTITUTION: Each of two-dimensional alignment marks 12-17 on a printing medium is found by using the data related to the whole of a mark area or by using a two-dimensional pattern or characteristics peculiar to each of the marks with respect to each of two different directions to the medium or by discovering the area center of each of the mark or by scanning 20 the mark area in order to obtain two-dimensional display for analysis or by combining these methods. Subsequently, an image is aligned on reference to a positioned mark to be printed. A preceding image is also preliminarily printed in the known relation with a mark and a new image is aligned with the preliminarily printed image on the same medium according to circumstances.
