PURPOSE:To constitute a method and device so that lowering of throughput is controlled to the minimum while keeping a recording head at the optimum state, by a method wherein ink within a recording head is sucked at timing to be decided based on the number of discharge dots, time left standing and temperature of the recording head. CONSTITUTION:An ink-jet recording device is provided with a time count device 24 to count a standing time of an ink jet recording device since power is turned on to the ink-jet device for the first time. A quantity of electricity corresponding to a counted value by the time count device 24 is applied to a suction operation control device 23 and in the suction operation control device 23, suction operation instruction are sent to a record control device 22 and suction device 12 based on an input value from the time count device 24, an input value from a dot count device 25 and an input value from a temperature sensor 21. |
