PURPOSE:To provide the title silk worm feed which is prepared by pelletizing defatted soybean flour, corn flour or defatted rice bran into porous disks of a specific porosity at a low cost because the feed is free from mulberry leaf and a gelling agent, thus palatable feed can be prepared in each silk worm farm. CONSTITUTION:The objective feed is prepared by pelletizing (A) defatted soybean flour containing no mulberry leaf powder and no gelling agent, (B) a corn powder, (C) defatted rice bran and (D) rape seed lees into disks of 30 to 70% porosity. These starting substances are mixed in a twin-screw extruder (100rpm, 130 deg.C barrel temperature), heat-pressed under 10kg/cm<2> pressure and extruded out of the die into the air and cut into raised pellets. The feed is recommendably immersed in water and given to silk worms at 70 to 75% water content. |
