PURPOSE:To provide an absorbent material for an incontinence pad which has excellent absorptivity of urine and simultaneously removes ammonia smells. CONSTITUTION:The absorbent material for the incontinence pad contains highly water absorptive fibers and/or highly water absorptive polymer and contains a polymer which has >=4pH of 0.5wt.% fine dispersion, is partially crosslinked and contains a carboxylic acid group in pure water. More preferably the absorbent material contains >=3wt.% contg. carboxylic acid group and absorbs >=700wt.% physiological salt soln. under 1 psi pressurization.
