POTASSIUM ALGINATE OLIGOSACCHARIDE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain a potassium alginate oligosaccharide useful for maintaining the health such as prevention of hypertension and a method for producing the oligosaccharide. CONSTITUTION:A potassium alginate oligosaccharide is obtained by reacting potassium alginate and/or sodium alginate with a hydrolase for polysaccharides (alginic lyase) produced by a microorganism, then once carrying out the treatment of metallic deionization from the resultant potassium alginate oligosaccharide or sodium alginate oligosaccharide, subsequently treating the resultant product with potassium hydroxide and separating and removing excess salts. This method for producing the oligosaccharide comprises reacting potassium alginat and/or sodium alginate with the hydrolase for the polysaccharides produced by the microorganism (alginic lyase); once performing the treatment of metallic deionization from the obtained potassium alginate oligosaccharide and/or sodium alginate oligosaccharide; treating the resultant product with potassium hydroxide; and separating and removing the excess salts in the prepared postassium alginate oligosaccharide.
