PURPOSE:To make it so as to secure a high damping force variation range by keeping off any discharge heading for an outer tube from an inner tube. CONSTITUTION:This shock absorber is made up of installing an inner tube 10 or an electrode member on one side at the outside of a cylinder 11 or an electrode member on the other and an outer tube 11 at the outside, respectively, and forming a reservoir chamber R2 consisting of a liquid chamber R3 and a gas damper R4 in space between both these tubes 10 and 11, and further it is composed of forming a controlling clearance S, being interconnected to a rod side chamber A and the reservoir chamber R2, in space between the cylinder 1 and the inner tube 10 after interconnecting a piston side chamber B to this rod side chamber A via an extension side check valve 3a in a piston part 3. In this shock absorber utilized with an electric viscous fluid whose both ends are connected to a bearing 12 and a valve body 14a via two insulators 8 and 8a, the reservoir chamber R2 is interconnected to the piston side chamber B via a pressure side check valve 14c in a base valve part 14 installed in a lower end of the cylinder 1, and this shock absorber is featured that such a gaseous body as being high in electrical insulatingness is sealed up in the gas chamber R4. |
