PURPOSE: To provide a hill holder applied to a manual vehicle transmission with simple and inexpensive constitution by taking a means such as selectively meshing the teeth of a hub member with a tooth of a reaction member so as to prevent the rotation of the hub member in the opposite rotational direction. CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical housing 31 is arranged in a hill holder 30 coaxially with an intermediate shaft 19, and a clutch assembly 40 is arranged so as to prevent one-way rotation of the intermediate shaft 19. The clutch assembly 40 is provided with a hub member 41 rotating together with the intermediate shaft 19 and a reaction member 43 freely movable and nonrotatable in the axial direction. Mutually meshing respectively inclined face-shaped respective teeth 42, 44 are formed on adjacent end surfaces of the hub member 41 and the reaction member 43. The reaction member 43 is moved by a hydraulically actuating piston 55 between a separating position where the respective theeth 42, 44 do not mesh with each other and the intermediate shaft 19 rotate in both directions and an engaging position where the respective teeth 42, 44 mesh with each other and the intermediate shaft 19 rotates in one direction. |
