PURPOSE: To secure the stability of an obtained colloid and to enhance the wear resistance of a lubricant containing the colloid by modifying the center of the micelle of an alkaline earth metal carbonate into a carbonate-free new micelle by a specific acid. CONSTITUTION: At least one carbonate of alkaline earth metal having the basicity reserve of 200-600 mg potassium hydroxide per 1 g is formed into the micelle by reacting with at least one compound selected from alkylsulfonic acids and alkylarylsulfonic acids and their salts and at least one compound selected from long chain aliphatic carboxylic acids and their salts to modify up to 70% of the basicity reserve of the original colloidal material. Then the residual basicity reserve is neutralized by at least one acid containing at least one element selected from boron, phosphorus and sulfur. In the case that such an acid is directly introduced into the reaction medium, a mineral acid is selected from orthoboric acid, metaboric acid, phosphoric acid, their derivatives, carboxylic acid containing sulfur, or the like. |
