METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUSLY CASTING POLYMERIZABLE THERMOSETTING MATERIAL

PURPOSE: To continuously cast a thermosetting material shrunk at a time of curing by including a process for generating shrinkage in a mixture in all directions substantially uniformly. CONSTITUTION: A thermosetting compsn. is mixed with a controlled amt. of a first catalyst having constant activating temp. and a second catalyst having activating temp. sufficiently higher than that of the first catalyst. Subsequently, this matrix is accumulated on a conveyor or the single-layered web moving on a fixed support plate in a controlled amt. This liquid matrix moves over a distance sufficient to make the upper surface and edge of the matrix horizontal and smooth. Next, the matrix is heated to temp. starting the decomposition of the catalyst having the constant activating temp. in a first zone. The gelled matrix is subsequently separated from the liquid matrix mechanically in the vicinity of the terminal of an inlet. This gelled and separated matrix is next heated to higher temp. starting the decomposition of the second catalyst having the sufficiently high activating temp. in a second zone.
