A power assist handle (10) for providing control signals to a servo mechanism includes spring (13,14,15,17) guided means (11,12) for allowing motion of the handle in only two directions (x,y), in a configuration which has almost no friction between stationary (22, 23) and moving (11, 12) parts. Motion is sensed by a pair of Hall-effect sensors (31,33), each of which provides a signal output proportional to the displacement of the handle in a respective orthogonal direction. The sensors (31,33) and associated permanent magnets (30,32) are arranged so that each set is sensitive in one of the two directions and insensitive in the other. |
