Pipes having special-profile sections are produced on an apparatus with rotating moulds. The half-moulds (2a), which respectively fit together to form a mould, have forming areas (47) extending approximately parallel to the mould cavity axis (45). Vacuum slits, running approximately parallel to the mould cavity axis (45), open out into the mould cavity (27a), to be precise in each case at a point which is radially furthest away from the mould cavity axis (45). This permits special-profile sections to be moulded precisely by the vacuum method.
