Door locking flush handle assembly

A door locking handle assembly of the pull-out and side-swinging lever-action type is disclosed. In the assembly, when a handle (19) is pushed into a front concave portion (6) of a casing (4), the handle (19) can be reliably held in its retracted position. A push button (27) is pivotally mounted on a front end portion of the handle (4) and has a catch (29) which engages a keep (35). When the push button (27) is swingably depressed, the handle (19) is released to project from the casing (4) by means of a spring (18). The thus projected handle (19) is side-swung to release the main catch plate (11) of the locking shaft (12). In the assembly having the above construction a lock unit (31) is housed in a front-end portion of the handle (19). A lock plate (33) turns with the rotor (32) of the lock unit (31) when the handle (19) is pushed into the casings (4) and abuts on the leg portion (28) of the push button (27) to prevent the button being actuated.
