PURPOSE:To realize the SIS tunnel junction of superconductor/insulator/ superconductor. CONSTITUTION:In the tunnel junction having the structure of oxide superconductor 1/insulator 2/oxide superconductor 3, the insulator 2 has the perovskite structure ABX3 (A and B are cations, and X is anion represented by oxygen), and A is alkali-earth element Ba or a part of A is made to be Sr. The insulator 2 has the BX6 octahedron perovskite structure. In this way, the terminating end of Cu-O, which is the outermost surface of a thin film, is made to have the CuO chain structure under the presence of Bad. Therefore, a non-conducting phase is not formed at the interface of S/I and I/S, which is the interface in the SIS structure. There is the advantage of the realization of the ideal tunnel junction.
