PURPOSE: To restore a window by removing the ghost state of the window of a stopped application program. CONSTITUTION: A display window for displaying a stopped application program is managed and four steps are included in response to an application program to be stopped: the information contents of the window of the stopped application program is copied (a), the window of the stopped application program and a second window called an ordered shadow window are generated so as to shield the stopped application program from the view of the observer of a screen for display (b), the second window is painted by the copy of the information contents of the stopped application program (c), and in response to the message of repainting of the second window, the second window is repainted by the copy of the information contents of the stopped application program (d).
