PURPOSE: To prevent poor meshing and striking of a cam tooth form starter pinion in relation to a ring gear by forming a biting part chamfer to be formed by rotating an involute tooth form of a through 90 degrees across the end of the tooth. CONSTITUTION: A chamfer traversing the front edge of a tooth 2 in a starter pinion is formed by rotating a gear involute tooth form 3 through 90 degrees across the whole surface to form the front edge. That is, the involute is formed by being swung from the central line deviated by the angle ofθfrom the radial central line of a tooth in which the radii R1 to R6 gradually reduced from the top 7, namely, from the outer radius R0 of the tooth 2 to the root radius RR are formed of heights E1 to E6 having equal distances. The chamfer eliminates all flat points in the pinion surface. Accordingly, poor meshing and striking of the pinion can be prevented. |
