PURPOSE:To obtain a pyrazolotriazole having amino groups useful for an intermediate for a color photo coupler and a medicine, without requiring any pressurization during a reaction, and excellent in yield, purity, etc., by reducing a specific compound containing nitro groups with formic acid in the presence of a transition metal catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A compound of the formula I (PA is pyazolotriazole mother ring; Ar is a divalent aromatic ring; L is a connecting group; n is 0-3; m is 1-5), etc., such as a pyrazolotriazole having nitro groups, preferably a compound where PA is the formula II [R1 is H or a substituted group; X is H or a removable coupling group] or the formula III, is reduced with formic acid or its salt, which is the formula IV [M is H, alkali (alkaline earth) metal or NH(R2)3, R2 is H or alkyl] compound, in the presence of a transition metal catayst such as palladium black, palladium - carbon, etc. |
