PURPOSE:To obtain aromatic polyamide short fibers for reinforcing resin, having excellent dispersibility in a matrix resin, exhibiting excellent reinforcing effect by making an epoxy compound, a water-soluble nylon compound and a water- dispersible polyester resin solution adhere to the fibers. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamide filament bundle is arranged, fed, immersed in a uniformly opened state in the first solution composed of a mixed solution of an epoxy compound containing two or more epoxy groups such as glycerol polyglycidyl ether and a water-soluble nylon compound such as methoxymethylated nylon, provided with 0.1-10wt.%, preferably 0.5-5wt.% solid pickup based on the filament bundle, dried and heat-treated at >=80 deg.C, preferably 130-250 deg.C. Successively the filament bundlc is immersed in the second solution composed of an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polyester resin obtained by copolymerization with a hydrophilic component such as a sulfoisophthalate or polyethylene glycol, coated with 0.5-10wt.%, preferably l-5wt.% of the resin, dried and heat-treated at 120-200 deg.C and cut into short fibers. |
