摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a reactive-power compensation apparatus which has a small loss even in a standby state and a high efficiency by a method wherein a circuit breaker for a charging circuit is not released in a state that a circuit breaker, for system linkage, which links a self-excited converter to a system has been closed. CONSTITUTION:Even after a circuit breaker 10 for linkage to a system has been closed, a circuit breaker 24 for a charging circuit is not released and it is set to an ON state. In addition, a voltage in the charging circuit is set to the lower limit of a rated operating range for a DC voltage. Consequently, even when a voltage in a DC capacitor 13 is dropped, the circuit breaker 24 for the charging circuit is set to a closed state. As a result, electric power is supplied from the charging circuit, and the voltage in the DC capacitor 13 is maintained at a prescribed value. As a result, it is not required to charge the DC capacitor 13 by operating a self-excited converter 12. It is sufficient that the charging circuit supplies electric power by only the discharged portion of the DC capacitor 13, and a loss which is more than it is not required. In addition, when a standby state is shifted to the output operation of reactive power, it is not required to charge the DC capacitor 13 and the standby state can be shifted immediately to the output operation.
