PURPOSE:To provide the device in which even a binary picture having a periodic structure is easily magnified/reduced without causing moire stripes and a magnified/reduced picture with high picture quality is obtained. CONSTITUTION:The device is made up of an arithmetic operation means 3 dividing a binary picture being an object of magnification/reduction into blocks each comprising plural picture elements and obtaining number of black level picture elements in each block and outputting the result as a mean density, a density designation means 5 outputting various density conversion signal corresponding to an external signal entered by an operation panel 6, a picture processing means 4 using its output to process the output from the arithmetic operation means 3 and implementing density conversion processing and outputting a new average density as to each block, a picture generating means 7 implementing threshold level processing by a density pattern to its output and generating a matrix pattern, a magnification/reduction command means 9 outputting a magnification/reduction signal corresponding to an external signal, and a picture re-configuration means 8 applying magnification/reduction processing to the matrix pattern outputted from the picture generating means 7. |
