PURPOSE: To provide a light box including a connector which holds a fiber optic cable rotatably, prevents the cable from being cut accidentally, and makes it easy to cut the cable. CONSTITUTION: The light box 10 includes an incandescent lamp 28, mounted in a disposable electric bulb holder. The light from the electric bulb enters an optical adjustment array 16, containing an opening 50 for generating a starting light beam, a hot mirror 54 which reflects ultraviolet light and infrared light, and an optical tapering member 56 which narrows the light beam down to the input-side diameter of the cable 58. The obtained light beam is sent to the cable, through the connector 18 which selectively holds the cable. The connector 18 holds the cable rotatable and includes a storage tube 64, surrounded by a slide tube 72. Then the gap 78 between the tubes 64 and 72, a ball 86 is stored and extended selectively through the wall part of the storage tube, so as to hold the cable. This device includes a safety circuit 36 and a timer reset circuit which cut off the electric power, when a drawer member 20 has been detached.
