PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of an extracted picture by executing processing such as processing of eliminating unevenness of a picture contour and processing of thinning width of lines for picture information read in double line density and converting the processed information into picture information of prescribed line density so as to eliminate notches in a picture and prevent a change in the width of lines. CONSTITUTION:A scanner 1 reads an original picture one by one line each and outputs sequentially picture information of multi-gradation. A binarization section 2 converts the picture information of multi-gradation into black/white level binary picture information. A correction section 3 executes two kinds of correction processing to the binary picture information. That is, unevennes of a contour of the picture is eliminated and the processing of thinning the width of lines of the picture is executed. The picture information to which the two kinds of picture correction are executed is outputted from the correction section 3. An OR processing section 4 converts the line density of the picture information in the subscanning direction by a half and the result is outputted. A plotter 5 prints out the resulting picture information. |
