PURPOSE: To obtain electrically conductive composite particles with low resistivity by combining an oxide-containing electrically conductive core material, an electrically conductive refractory material, and a noble metal interposed between them and allowing the core material and the refractory material to fuse utilizing their electric conductivity. CONSTITUTION: The composite particles having <=300 mΩ.cm powder resistivity are formed by combining an electrically conductive core material having a surface oxide layer, an electrically conductive refractory material, and a noble metal or noble-metal alloy which is interposed between them, and the core material and the refractory material are allowed to fuse by utilizing their electric conductivity. The composite particles can be obtained by allowing the noble metal, or the like, to deposit as a discrete layer to the core material, bringing the resultant material into contact with the refractory material in a particulate form and integrating them. In this process, the refractory material breaks the oxide layer, diffuses through it, and fuses with the core material. Al, Sn, or the like, are used as the core material; WC, Nb, B, or the like, are used as the refractory material; and Ag, or the like, are used as the noble metal. It is appropriate to regulate the composition so that it consists of, by weight, 2 to 8% noble metal, about 10 to 97.5% core material, and about 88 to 0.5% refractory material. The composite particles can be suitably used as a conductive filler for an electrically conductive composition. |
