PURPOSE:To provide an electrode for nonaqueous electrolytic battery with high charge and discharge energy density. CONSTITUTION:A metal compound capable of storing and releasing lithium is used as an electrode active material. The metal compound has a fine structure consisting of a needle particle 1. The metal compound is obtained, for example, by adding and mixing a superfine powder having a particle size less than 1mum and never reacted with the metal compound to the starting material powder of the metal compound followed by heating and baking. The metal compound can be also generated by adding the superfine powder or chelating agent into the starting material solution. As the superfine powder, whiskers of a metal oxide formed on a metal plate can be used. The metal compound capable of storing an releasing lithium may contain lithium. |
