<p>PURPOSE:To enable efficient and inexpensive removal of silyl groups by reaction of a specific silyl ether compound with an acidic ammonium fluoride in an organic solvent whereby an alcohol of high optical purity is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A silyl ether compound of formula I (R is aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon; R1 to R3 are each a 1 to 6C alkyl, phenyl, aralkyl), preferably a carbapenem or penem compound of formula II (X is 1 to 3C alkyl, substituted methine, methylene, S; R4 is H, lower alkyl; R5 is H, alkali metal) is allowed to react with acidic ammonium fluoride of the formula NH4 -F.HF preferably in an organic solvent such as dimethylformamide or dimethylsulfoxide to eliminate the silyl group such as trimethyl or triethylsilyl group, thus obtaining a compound of the formula R-OH.</p> |
