PURPOSE:To provide a high-performance powder which hardly depends on a particle size by a method wherein an alloy of a rare-earth element and a transition metal at a specific composition is heat-treated in nitrogen gas, the nitrogen is made to creep and a precipitation treatment and a nitrogen diffusion treatment are then executed simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:An alloy powder whose fundamental composition is 20<=R<=30 (where R represents one kind or two or more kinds of chemical elements our of rare-earth elements including Y), 5<=Fe<=45, 2<=Cu<=10 and 0.1<=M<=10 (where M represents one kind of two or more kinds out of Zr, Hf, Ti, Nb, Ta, V and Ni, in terms of wt.%, and whose residual part) is composed of Co is heat- treated in a gas containing nitrogen, and the nitrogen is made to creep. After that, an aging treatment is executed in an inert gas other than nitrogen gas, a nitrifying reaction is not caused, and the aging treatment can be executed at a comparatively high temperature. As a result, a sufficient precipitation phase is formed, and the heat-treatment time of the magnet can be shortened. |
