PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL FIBER HAVING NONCONCENTRIC CIRCULAR SECTIONAL STRUCTURE

PURPOSE:To provide a process for production of the optical fiber having a nonconcentric circular sectional structure which is small in the fluctuation width of the outside diameter. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber is drawn in such a manner that the angle thetaformed by a cut face 4 and measuring cut face 5 in a longitudinal direction contg. stress imparting parts 3a, 3b of the panda type constant polarization optical fiber to the max; possible extent in an outside diameter measuring instrument attains 90 deg.. A drawing device which is the same as the conventional device is used at this time and the outside diameter of the optical fiber right after the drawing measured by the outside diameter measuring instrument is fed back to a speed controller to adjust the outside diameter of the resulted panda type constant polarization optical fiber to a specified outside diameter.
