The thinning method of preprocessing has the noise eliminating step removing the protruded pixels in one of the outer eight directions; the spot noise elimating step removing the isolated pixels; the canceling step withdrawing the eliminating operations when a neighbor pixel exists in the right direction or the downward direction. The above steps are repeated until no eliminating and canceling operation occurs.
