CONSTITUTION:A measuring element 2 impregnated with a reagent is successively inserted in a disc. Next, a disc is rotated at every one pitch to transfer the measuring element 2 to a sample dripping part where a sample is dripped to the measuring element 2 to perform reaction. Photometric light is emitted from a light source 54 passed through a lens 55 to be reflected by a mirror 57 and the reflected light is allowed to irradiate the measuring element 2 through an optical fiber 58. The reflected light from the measuring element 2 is transmitted to a light receiving element 6 through an optical fiber 59 to detect optical density. At this time, definite bias is applied until the reflected light is incident to the light receiving element 60 from an auxiliary illumination means 80 and illumination is interrupted at the time of photometry. Because the auxiliary illumination means is provided, the measuring element can be instantaneously measured and an analytical response speed can be increased.
