<p>PURPOSE: To provide an interface circuit which suits to decentralized exchange control by generating a parameter corresponding to a packet in a RAM in response to an address signal. CONSTITUTION: An ATM packet exchange 10 uses a received packet for a communication network which uses an ATM protocol deriving a selected output. For blocking reduction in the exchange, driving is performed 2 or 3 times as fast as an input line speed. Input-side ATM layer interface circuits ALI14 to ALI16 have output faster than input. Each ALI has an output buffer capable of holding a specific number of ATM cells for the smoothing of the burst state of a mol separating slower than at reception time, and other buffering is bypassed to the RAM through a local IF, and then inserted into an output ATM cell stream. Further, each ALI performs ATM header correction, local routing tag addition and deletion, local processor interfacing, virtual channel statistic acquisition, etc.</p> |
