PURPOSE:To obtain a copying machine capable of setting and recording a background color in compliance with user's desire in the case of forming a background on an image where a copied substance placed on a platen glass is recorded to be smaller than the image recording area of the platen glass. CONSTITUTION:A proof unit 200 functioning as a background illuminating device is arranged in the copying machine 10 provided with an optical exposure device. This unit 200 can be inserted in and separated from a position opposed to the front surface side of the platen glass 50. Furthermore, the unit 200 incorporates a lamp unit provided with a light source, an ND filter and a CC filter, and the platen glass 50 is irradiated with light in a slit shape in a state where the unit 200 is opposed to the platen glass 50. Thus, the background color of the original to be copied is set and recorded not only in white but also in the desired color. |
