PURPOSE:To accurately recognize an object without being influenced by the distortion of an input picture by calculating the position and direction of the object with the input picture as a perspective picture. CONSTITUTION:This object recognition system is provided with a means for detecting an elliptic parameter from an object in a picture, a means for calculating the center position and direction of a circle in a three-dimensional space from the elliptic parameter by perspective projection and a means for calculating the center position and direction of the circle when the radius of the circle is normalized to '1'. An inherent value calculating means 1 finds out an inherent value by means of the 1st and 2nd rotational matrix calculating parts 2, 3. A radius calculating part 4 calculates the radius of the circle by inputting the inherent value. A normal calculating part 5 calculates the normal vector of a plane on which the circle is placed and a circle center calculating part 6 calculates the center position of the circle. |
