<p>PURPOSE:To reduce number of aborted packets due to an overflowed input buffer. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with an input buffer section 30 storing cells, a decoder section 52 decoding a cell header and decoding an arbitration result, and a contention cell arbitration section 53 making arbitration of contention cells. When each input buffer 30n of the input buffer section 30 has a function to set a congestion indication flag to the cell header when its own buffer is in congestion. Arbitration circuits 53n, 53BC of a contention cell arbitration section 53 set priority of each input buffer 30n and have a function of selecting a buffer with highest priority as a survival buffer when any congestion buffer is in existence.</p> |
