PURPOSE:To carry out very accurate measurement, by separating cyanogen chloride in a sample from other coexisting components using an ion exclusion column, and thereafter by reacting it with a pyridine/ pyrazolone solution to measure the absorbance. CONSTITUTION:A sample is introduced into an ion exclusion column 4 through an injector 3, and the cyanogen chloride and cyanide ions are separated from other components in the sample. A reaction solution consisting of chloramine-T and a buffer solution is mixed into an effluent from the column 4 in a mixing part 7 and reacted by a reaction coil 8 in a thermostatic chamber 10. Consequently, the cyanide ions are changed into the cyanogen chloride. A reaction solution consisting of a pyridine/pyrazolone solution is mixed into the formed cyanogen chloride and the cyanogen chloride existing from the first in a mixing part 13. The cyanogen chloride and the reaction solution are mixed by a reaction coil 14 in a next thermostatic chamber 20 to be reacted. As a result, the cyanogen chloride forms a blue compound. |
