PURPOSE:To prolong the available time of map during high speed running by shifting the vehicle position to the lower part of screen when the vehicle is running at a reference speed or above whereas shifting the vehicle position by about half or less of the height of screen when the vehicle is running it the reference speed or less. CONSTITUTION:Vehicle position marks 2, 2' and an orientation mark 3 are presented along with a map on a display 1 installed in the vicinity of a driver seat. When the speed is increased or decreased while setting reference speeds at 30 and 50km, hysteresis characteristics are retained using a different reference thus preventing frequent shift of displayed position in the vicinity of reference speed. Average speed is calculated when the vehicle is running and the vehicle position mark 2' is shifted to the lower end if the vehicle speed is 50km or above. When the average vehicle speed is lower than 50km, a decision is made whether the vehicle speed is lower than 30km and if the vehicle speed is lower than 30km, the vehicle position mark 2 is shifted to a position of about 30% of the screen height from the bottom. This constitution allows observation of more map information in the advancing direction of vehicle for a longer time. |
