PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device formed by using double refractive films capable of greatly improving the coloration and visual angle characteristic of the STN-LCD. CONSTITUTION:At least one sheet of phase difference plates are films or sheets formed by uniaxially stretching polysulfone polymer film or sheet. The retardation (Re(f)) defined by the product of the double refractive index (DELTAn) and thickness thereof is in a relation 1/nXRe(LC)-50<Re(f)<Re(LC) with the retardation (Re(LC)) of the liquid crystal cell and the dispersion within the film plane of the retardation is <=+ or -10nm average value. |
