PURPOSE:To reproduce an image, for which it is conventionally difficult to be reproduced, such as a fine line with high fidelity. CONSTITUTION:This method uses a filter matrix F', notice picture element G and peripheral picture elements Gxy. When density difference between the notice picture element G and the peripheral picture element Gxy is larger than a prescribed value alpha, a matrix value Fxy is made double as large as a first set value and further when density difference between the notice picture element G and a peripheral picture element G (4-x, 4-y) at a position dot-symmetrical to the peripheral picture element Gxy is larger than the prescribed value alpha, the matrix value Fxy is made four times as large as the first set value. A matrix value F of the notice picture element G is a value for which '-1' is multiplied to the total value of the peripheral matrix value Fxy. Thus, the filter matrix F' is calculated and by using this value, converted density G' of the notice picture element G is calculated. In this case, even the image not to be conventionally reproduced can be reproduced as well since the filter matrix F' is changed corresponding to conditions. |
