The present invention relates to a gasket intended to provide sealing between a first surface which carries it and a second surface brought into position by translation relative to the first surface and relative to the gasket in a given direction approximately parallel to these surfaces. The body of the gasket (3) includes at least one cavity (36) emerging in its face (32) which is acted upon by the second surface (11) and capable of receiving lubricant in the absence of compression of the gasket (3) and of being crushed in order to drive this lubricant towards the face (32) acted upon when the gasket (3) is compressed by the second surface (11). Application especially to relative sealing between two pipes or the like (2, 5) fitted together, between a male end (1) of one and a female socket (4) of the other. <IMAGE>
