PURPOSE:To improve an efficiency of use for an alloy so as to provide a high capacity and high activity hydrogen storage alloy electrode by coating the surface of an electrode, which is formed of hydrogen storage alloy powder storing/releasing hydrogen electrochemically, with a nickel-zinc alloy plated layer. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen storage alloy powder represented by ZrMn0.7V0.3Ni1.2, which is one of the alloys whose main alloy phases are C15 type Laves phases, is formed into an electrode and is plated by an alloy of nickel and zinc. Alternatively, the electrode is dipped in an alkaline solution after plating. This electrode is used as a negative electrode while nickel oxide electrode is used as a positive electrode so as to constitute a battery, so that a high capacity and high activity battery is obtained. |
