PURPOSE: To provide a system for individualizing received information into inherent requests of receivers. CONSTITUTION: The communication system includes a single transmitter and many individual receivers 200. A transmitter broadcasts signals as a successive text stream of digital encoded text items through a medium. Each encoded text item propagates information regarding one or more subjects described with index words and phrases. Each receiver 200 includes a detector which continuously receive the broadcast communication signal, a profile storage device 241 which is adapted individually by respective users so as to include a list of desired index words and phrases, a means which selects only items having index words and phrases matching index words and phrases in the profile storage device, and a memory which stores the selected items. Items selected for reproduction are converted from the digital text into a synthesized voice, which is sent as a voice signal to the users.
