CONSTITUTION:An eyepiece 107 possesses a dichroic mirror 107a which reflects a light in infrared area and transmits a light in visible area as a light splitter. The line of sight detecting light source 110 uses the light source of invisible wavelength area such as infrared ray light emitting diode, etc. A mask 111 has for example, a cross-shaped aperture so as to make the luminous flux of the light source 110 a desired shape. A half mirror 112 leads the image of an observer's eye 109 illuminated by the light source 110 on a photoelectric conversion element 113. The observer's eye 109 is illuminated by a cross-shaped light source by using the mask 111, so that a Purkinje first image is formed in a cross shape that is same as the shape of the aperture part of the mask 111.
