PURPOSE: To provide a method for executing a register reinstruction by providing a backup function in a data processing system. CONSTITUTION: A register reinstruction device 18 is constituted of a logical and physical(LP) map 30, a free list 32, and an inside swap bus 90 for exchanging information between those two devices. This register reinstruction hardware 18 is connected to an instruction sequencer and an instruction decode/issue logic.
