The present invention relates to a method and a device for controlling the water supply to a steam generator, which is supplied in a temperature-controlled manner, with the aid of a pump (7), with the evaporated amount of water by water flowing behind. To this end, a temperature sensor is connected in heat-conducting fashion to the heating element (3) and the supply line (5) and conveys the measured temperature to a thermostat (6) which, in turn, switches on the pump (7) in dependence on the temperature present in each case for such a time until the temperature sensor (4) is cooled with the aid of the water (5) flowing behind to a given temperature and the pump (7) is switched off again by the thermostat (6). <IMAGE>
