Process for the production of metal-matrix composite materials

Process for the production of metal-matrix composite materials from a metal matrix, into which reinforcing materials are embedded. The reinforcing materials are introduced into a blank mould which is arranged in a crucible. The metal material which is to form the metal matrix is arranged above the mould orifice. The crucible together with the blank mould and the metal material is evacuated in a vacuum furnace and is heated until the metal material melts. The crucible is subsequently taken out of the vacuum furnace and arranged in a pressure vessel and is subjected to pressure therein, so that the metal material infiltrates the blank mould. The infiltrated body is subsequently cooled and extracted from the pressure vessel.
