A system for controlling at least one lifting axle on a multi-axle utility vehicle is equipped with an axle lifting valve 3, an automatic control valve 4, two change-over valves 5, 6 which are each assigned to one side of the vehicle and a damping container 7. The axle lifting valve 3 has a switching piston 13 with switching space 15 for ventilating and venting the lifting bellows 55 of the lifting axle 49. The control valve 4 has a control piston 17 which is supported on a spring 21, 22 and is acted on on its active surface by the bellows pressure of the driving axle 64 in order to actuate the switching piston 13 with the bellows pressure of the driving axle. The change-over valves 5, 6 have change-over pistons 30 for ventilating and venting the bellows 48, 52 of the lifting axle 49. In the line 60, 61, 38, 73, 75 leading from a spring bellows 63 of the driving axle 64 to the control piston 17 of the control valve 6 a shut-off valve 80 which can be switched electrically as a function of braking is provided, which shut-off valve 80 provides the line connection in the non-actuated state and in the actuated state shuts off the line connection or at least throttles it to a great degree. <IMAGE>
